A Children’s Talent, Skills and Leadership Competition

Introduction

Every child deserves the opportunity to discover their talents, develop confidence, and believe that they can achieve great things. Unfortunately, many talented children never get the chance to showcase their abilities because they lack opportunities, exposure, encouragement, and support.

Losing Is Part of Winning is a children’s competition created to give every child a chance to learn, grow, and shine. The competition teaches children that success is not only about winning but also about learning, perseverance, teamwork, discipline, and self-confidence.

Our goal is to create a safe, exciting, and educational environment where children can discover their strengths while building friendships and learning valuable life skills.

Objectives

The competition aims to:

– Help children discover and develop their talents.
– Build confidence through healthy competition.
– Teach children that losing is part of learning and growing.
– Encourage teamwork, unity, respect, and sportsmanship.
– Expose talented children to mentors, sponsors, coaches, and future opportunities.
– Inspire children to dream bigger regardless of their background.
– Identify children who may benefit from continued educational and personal support.

Participants

The competition is open to 500 children between the ages of 6 and 13 years from across Malawi.

Participation will be free because we believe every child deserves an equal opportunity regardless of their family’s financial situation.

Parental or guardian consent will be required for every participant to ensure the safety and well-being of all children.

Competition Activities

Activities may include:

– Singing
– Dancing
– Spelling
– Swimming
– Athletics and sports
– Art and drawing
– Talent performances
– Creative skills
– Business idea presentations
– Leadership challenges
– Team competitions
– Educational games
– Other creative and developmental activities

Different judging methods will be used depending on the category.

Judging

Winners will be selected through:

– Professional judges’ scores
– Public voting where appropriate
– Performance according to the rules of each competition

Confidence, creativity, effort, discipline, and overall performance will also be considered.

Awards

Participants will receive recognition for their efforts.

Top performers will receive:

– Certificates
– Medals
– Trophies
– Special prizes

Where possible, additional educational support or sponsorship opportunities will be sought for outstanding participants.

Long-Term Vision

This project does not end after the competition.

Outstanding children will continue receiving guidance through mentorship, coaching, networking, and sponsorship opportunities.

We hope to connect talented children with schools, organizations, coaches, and mentors who can help them reach their full potential through education, training, scholarships, and career development.

As support grows, we also hope to assist vulnerable children by connecting them with organizations that can provide further care and opportunities.

Duration

The competition is expected to run for six to seven days during the school holidays in Malawi.

The estimated budget is MWK 50,000,000.
