FEED A SOUL NOW AND TOMORROW
Story
The Soil Rangers Project under nthali is requesting funds amounting to MK8,000,000 for the period of January 1 to June 30. The project would like to empower 30 farming families who are struggling with hunger from October to March next year in rural Salima. Having slept on empty stomach for 7 months straight and felt dignity slipped away, this prompted me to found nthali.
Malawi Vulnerable Assessment Committee reported that over 4 million people are hungry from October 2025 to March 2026. This means that for every 10 people, 2 are hungry. This led to the country’s President declaring a state of disaster in 11 out of 28 districts. Salima is among the affected districts.
We would like to support these 30 farming families not only food for today but for tomorrow as well. This is the reason why we have put a pack of MK266,000 for every farmer that will support them with maize flour, indigenous seeds for maize, beans, cowpeas and sorghum as well as biofertilizer and biopesticides training. This shall make them eat now and farm for tomorrows food that will lead them to being food secure amidst climate change.
Nthali works with young and women farmers who are being transitioned from conventional farming to organic regenerative agriculture. At nthali, every bite of food must be eco-conscious. Production of food must not be in anyway destroying the environment through chemical inputs and deforestation.
