Help Rise for Phoka CBO Support Elderly People in Malawi
Story
We are Rise for Phoka CBO, a community-driven initiative based in Livingstonia, Malawi. Our mission is to uplift our neighbors by addressing some of the most pressing issues faced by women, girls, and the elderly in our communities. But we need your help to secure permanent transport and keep our projects running smoothly to ensure that no one in our community gets left behind.
We focus on:
- Elderly Companionship: Visiting elderly people in Livingstonia and surrounding areas to understand their challenges, provide emotional support, and supply necessities they lack.
- Empowering Women and Girls: Fighting period poverty and ensuring that girls can continue their education with dignity.
- Sustainable Farming: Supporting farmers in adopting environmentally friendly, resource-efficient practices that benefit their families and communities.
While our work has had a lasting positive impact, we face a major challenge—transportation.
Why We Need a Motorbike
We rely on motorbike taxis to transport our team to visit elderly community members. However, this method is expensive, and we often struggle to find the funds to cover the costs. Without reliable transport, we’re forced to put our Elderly Compassion project on hold—meaning our elderly population suffers from isolation and neglect.
This is why we’re asking for your support. With $1,200, we can purchase a motorbike to ensure consistent and timely visits to elderly people in need. No longer will we have to pause our programs because of transportation costs. Our elderly neighbors deserve to be heard, cared for, and seen—and with your help, we can make this happen every day.
What We’ve Already Achieved
With limited resources, we’ve already made a significant impact. We’ve connected with elderly community members, listened to their stories, and, when possible, provided them with necessities such as food and medication. To see more about our programme, check out our video on Facebook.
We are doing great work, but we know we can do so much more with the right tools.
Why Your Support Matters
Your donation will ensure that our Elderly Compassion program can provide even more impact to our valued elderly community members. It will empower us to visit elderly people regularly, understand their needs, and take action to address them. The motorbike will also help us expand other initiatives, from sustainable farming training to supporting young girls with menstrual hygiene products, by providing an income generation resource we can use when the bike is not in use.
In a world where many elderly individuals are neglected or forgotten, we believe that no one should be isolated because of logistical challenges. Together, we can ensure that our elderly neighbors are supported, heard, and valued.
Join Us in Making a Difference
No matter the size, every donation brings us closer to our goal. Please help by sharing this campaign with your network if you cannot donate. Together, we can make a lasting impact in Livingstonia and beyond.
Thank you for your support!
